Five Things Friday

Happy Friday! Here are our five things:

1. This tutorial for ombre, or gradient, nails that has been all over Pinterest lately. If you have tried this, can you please tell me how it went? Beyond cute.

2. This amazing idea for displaying floating books. I don't know where it came from, so I can't give credit. But someone deserves major recognition for this idea. Genius.

3. Magnum ice cream. You guys, W paid me with a box of these after babysitting little R last night. Needless to say, I will babysit anytime if I am guaranteed one of these bad boys.

4. This DIY for macrame bracelets. Looks easy. Looks cute. I am going to get the stuff for these  on my lunch break.

5. Have we mentioned we love Real Salt Lake? Well, we LOVE Real Salt Lake. We will be at the game on the 4th of July, and we will be singing this song a lot (hopefully).

Inspect your mirrors.

{dress: TJ Maxx, Gift | belt: TJ Maxx, $7.50 | sandals: Old Navy, $14.49}

Yesterday I realized that the full-length mirror in my bedroom, the one I have been using for the past five years, is majorly distorted. That's right, it has a convex shape, like a minor version of a funhouse mirror, that has caused me to look about seven sizes bigger than I actually am. How it took me five years to notice, I will never know.

But do you realize what this means? For five years I haven't known what I really look like.

I used to always have this problem where I would try on clothes in the store and love them, and then re-try them on again at home and hate them and return them. Now I know why. So, last night I bought myself a new, non-distorted mirror. And when I looked in it, it was weird. Because I looked a lot different.

All I can say is, inspect your mirrors. It's something I feel passionate about these days.

Crazy-Easy DIY Statement Necklace

I made a statement necklace in 10 minutes last week. With the new little babe around these sort of things have to be fast if I want to be any kind of crafty and shower too, and I really want to shower. Way bad. So, what I'm sayin is this DIY necklace is a quickie, anyone can make it, and I think it's super cute, too. 

I found a fantastic tutorial for a necklace like this here and fell in love. All you need are some crystal teardrop pendants (find them at Hobby Lobby for just a couple bucks), a fav nail polish color, a jewelry chain, and rings. Then, just paint one side of the pendants, let them dry and hook them to the chain however you want. Done. 

Afterward you'll have enough time to shower and become a contributing member of society again. Or at least be clean-ish while spending your day changing 50 billion diapers. That's glamour, folks.

 Later, I also wore the necklace, which was easy, too:

Yep, easier than choosing toppings for a sundae...since obviously that's not even really a choice...just put everything on there. Duh.

It's Monday

This is the outfit I wore yesterday. Sunday.

But today is Monday. And if you ask me, it really feels like a Monday.

Couldn't get out of bed this morning, had a bad hair day, lacking motivation at work, hungry an hour after eating breakfast, co-workers are buggin, feeling a little under-the-weather, really hate the outfit I picked out. Ya know. Monday stuff.

The good news is I only work three days this week. Then I am off to sunny St. George for sun-bathing, pool-soaking, mountain-hiking, BBQ-ing, and all the other fun stuff that you do there.

So this terrible Monday can eat my shorts.

There. I said it.

Well, hi there.

Guys. Do you remember me? W? 

The one who, a month ago yesterday, pushed a baby out of her body? 

The one who used to spend time headlessly blogging here with S, but now spends her time just plain headless, as in, I really think sometimes that I pushed my brain out along with the placenta? 

You see, I can't find the baby's pacifier, I can't find my other shoe, I missed the babe's dr appointment, I forgot to eat lunch, I forgot to call you back, I got out of the shower without washing my hair, I got out of the car with the keys still in the ignition, I only put on one earring, I only put sunless tanner on one leg, oh, and the cookies I put in the oven for a little late night feeding-the-baby snack? Yep. I forgot about those too. So ya, they're burned. 

But ya know what I do at times like these? I snuggle up with a soooooft, new, little baby boy, I throw away the burned cookies and turn to the bowl of cookie dough instead, and I decide my new life is way better than my old one. Who needs a fully functioning brain when you have a precious little babe around to distract everyone from the fact that you are mental, anyway? 

Yep, it's all workin for me. 

Sort of like this little number sent to me by the wooooonderful people at SexyModest Boutique. It is the cutest, pretty much like wearing a little hug from summer. And for someone with brain problems, it could not be easier to wear. I LOVE it.

Happy Friday, happy June, and other happy things!

Hello friends!

First off, we want to thank you for sticking with us through this crazy time. W had her sweet little baby and has all these other big life changes coming. I started a new crazy busy job and am struggling managing my time. So, we are kinda unsure about where this blog will be going with all these things happening and shaking up our lives. But we are grateful to you and hope you will hang in there with us as we figure it out.
