Pretty Little bows.

I have a really bad attitude today. These things happen. This particular baditude is the result of a 3 day weekend that was beyond lovely aside from the cold and rainy weather the entire weekend, which I would have been fine with except for the fact that now that I sit trapped behind my desk inside the confinement of my office, the weather is perfection. Of course! Sunny and 75 degrees! Just gorgeous. And cruel.

The cure for the post 3 day weekend baditude? Bows. Especially if they are atop a present. Those kind of bows will cure what ails ya. The other kind of bows I enjoy? Bows on clothes, or accessories. They are just precious, I think. Like this little bow top I wore yesterday....

Bow Top: F21 14.99, Belt: Thrifted: $1.00, Jeans: Old Navy 7.99, Flats: Payless 9.99

A girl in one of my classes told me once when I wore this top that it was like "Anne of Green Gables but sexy." I am allllll about. I heart Anne Shirley.

Need some bows in your life? All of these little treasures are $25 or under:

I think I am feeling better already. And, just think of what would happen if you received these bow treats in a box as a gift tied up with a bow??

Holy cow. I think my head just exploded from bow joy.

Happy Tuesday!

Five Things Friday {Memorial Day Edition}

Guys. Is there anything better than a 3-day weekend? No. Absolutely nothing. That is the answer. And the 3-day weekend upon us might be the very best one because it is the official kickoff to summer. I. Am. EXCITED. And to kick it off right, our five things Friday are all the things we all gotta have for this, the inauguration of summer.

{here, here, and here all $35 or under}

1. I swear, pretty much my entire closet right now is covered in grey or black, so this weekend I am draping myself in white and I mean it. A little white dress just makes me want to frolic barefoot somewhere, or pretend that I am a bride. Both very fun.

{Bruscetta hot dog recipe here}

2. I LOVE a good hot dog. I have hardly ever met one I didn't like. You may judge, but I am not ashamed. They scream summer, and smelling one cooking on the grill makes me happier than just about anything else. Oh heavens, I think I need one riiiiigggghhhttt now.

3. I heart Essie's summer collection and amazingly enough you can find it at Walmart now. Such pretty hot weather colors.

{here, here, and here, all $15 and under}

4. Yes, I have already purchased the pair on the left, and may be planning to get all three. Sandals, I love you.

5. Ok, this one needs a preface. A big one. No. I will not be listening to Lady Gaga all day everyday through the summer, I have no plans to start wearing plastic clothes or yellow hair extensions, but I gotta hand it to the little weirdo, she is talented, and this new single is catchy. Plus, I really like this version of it on the piano. I think you are gonna like it to, but you don't have to admit it. I don't blame you.

And that's that! I hope you all have a faaaaaaabulous weekend. I say we should start it right now, pack up a hot dog picnic and head out. Who's with me???

Happy Memorial Day!

Five Things Friday.

Hi friends!

We are so happy to be back! What started off as a couple of days off for S and I somehow turned into weeks of a post school coma. But now we are rested, done with school, and have re-evaluated what this blog is all about. I feel really good about it. This blog is meant to be a release for S and I, and for you. A place where we talk about the things we love and what makes us happy, and not a chore, a downer, or an added stress, so now that we have reminded ourselves of that we are back in action. And we are gonna do whatever the heck we want!

So, without further ado...five things Friday.

1. Target swim suits.

Yes. We must face it. Summer is coming. We have to shed the layers of wool that we have hidden ourselves under for months and trade it for very small amounts of nylon and spandex. It's okay though. Look how cute and modest all of these suits are? And they are all for around $30 at Target. Makes the pain much easier to bare {See the play on words there? Anyone? Bare like bare skin in a swimsuit, and bear like bearing your burdens?? Oh nevermind...}.

2. Masterpiece Theater's Jane Eyre.

Guys. Even if you are not an English nerd like myself. Even if you HATE Jane Austen or period literature. Even if you are certain that Masterpiece Theater is only for Grandma's, you must run, not walk to you local library or video store and get this. It is the most magical thing you can do for yourself. I am IN LOVE with it. And while yes, I love the book, and think the Bronte sister's were geniuses, I know it is amazing because S loved it too and she is not an English nerd. Anyway, just do it. TRUST ME.

3. This snickerdoodle recipe.

I forgot how delicious and happy a simple snickerdoodle can be! I just made this last night and they were perfect.

4. This hair:

I swear it shows up on Pinterest pretty much every dang day, and every dang day I have to remind myself that I am no Michelle Williams and should not run and chop my hair off like this. It is real hard.

5. The Civil Wars. And this cover of Jackson 5's "I want you back." Heavenly.

Happy Friday all you pretty things!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Friday!

Wouldn't you love to be laying under this umbrella right now?
Ocean crashing, diet coke in hand, sun burned cheeks? Oh heavens....so would I.

I must apologize for the lack of Five Things Friday today. And for the hodgepodge of posts this week. S and I have been a little bogged down by what has been one rough, long, and stress-filled week. However, today is the last day of mine and S's finals and next week we will be back, recharged, and better than evvveerrr! And I will be a graduated lady! Hooray!!

In the meantime, have a GREAT weekend, and make sure you get yourself entered into our fabulous giveaway for a fabulous handmade bag!

Gossip

Let's gossip for a minute.

Did you guys hear about Marie Osmond re-marrying her first husband? Did you hear that she wore the same dress that she wore the first time they got married? Is that not bizarre? Is that marriage doomed? Did you see Marie on Oprah a while ago? Did you notice how huge her upper lip looked? If you didn't, take a gander at this:

Now, don't get me wrong, I feel really bad for her. She has had some terrible things happen to her recently. But she used to not be able to cover her big white teeth with her mouth... now you can't even see her top teeth. Its just weird.

Anyway, that's really all I have to say about that. Share your opinions if you feel so inclined.

On an unrelated note, here is what I am wearing today.

{shirt: 19.99 Forever21, pants: 16.50 ROSS, shoes: 6.47 Target}

And on yet another unrelated note, we are doing a giveaway! Which we haven't done in a while. One of my favorite things ever is a cute summer bag. Like this one from Lazy Saturdays that we are giving away:

I can just imagine myself with this baby at the mall, or the pool, and everyone would stare at me with jealousy because they don't have such a cute summer-y bag.

To enter, you must be a follower of our blog
and leave us a comment that you do!

And for bonus entries:
-Follow us on Twitter
-Tweet about our giveaway
-Add our blog to your blogroll
-Post about our giveaway on your blog
-Follow Lazy Saturdays' blog
-Visit Lazy Saturdays' shop and tell us which

Giveaway will be open until Wednesday, May 11th.
Good Luck!

Out of the picture.

Good morrrrrnnnniiiiinnnnngggg! You guys, today is a great day. Something happened that is a seriously big deal. You will be so happy for me.  Ready?

Today was the first day that I didn't have to wear a coat to work and school!

Amazing, right? I wasn't even cold, and I really felt like five pounds lighter. So now that coats are out of the picture, hopefully tights and sweaters will be on their way out pretty soon, too.  Like the ones I still had to wear today.

{shirt: 4.50 Old Navy, sweater: 19.99 Maurices, skirt: 9.99 ROSS}

I am picturing this outfit minus the sweater and tights, and plus some wedges and a tan. So let's all channel some major optimism and get spring to stay for good. Sound like a plan?

Yours truly,

-S.

Today...

I have no outfit post for you since it is a work/library until the wee hours kind of day, and the hoodie and jeans I have on does not warrant your valuable time. Instead I just have some things to show you that are making me happy in the deep, dark, depths of finals week. Ready?

These 2 pictures from yesterday's met ball:

First. Hilarious. Poor tiny Ryan must stand up a stair to pose with his girlfriend.
He is just a little guy! So funny.

Next, super prego Kate Hudson looks super gorgeous!
I want in on that when I am prego someday.

The Beauty Department. Have you heard of it? It is Lauren Conrad and her beauty team's new blog, and it is so pretty and fun! My favorite thing I have learned from it so far? Ombre nails. I totally copied.

Dreaming about wearing my graduation dress!

Isn't it the sweetest thing? There is only one problem. Remember how I bought these leopard shoes to wear on graduation? Well, turns out I also found a leopard dress. Freeeeaaak! Will you help? What shoes would you wear with the dress?

Annnnd lastly, my montra for this week where
I feel like I have bit off much more than I can chew:
What is making you happy on this Tuesday?
Will you share? I'm gonna need it!!

Have a grrreat day!

I love America, and Anthropologie, and lots of other things.

While it seems quite inconsequential to spend time blogging about clothes on a day like this where there is so much of more importance to think about and be grateful for, I do have finals that I must procrastinate studying for, and this is one of the best ways I know how, so the blogging must go on!

So, lets just say that one of the ways we are showing our pride in our country today is by blogging about whatever the heck we want and wearing whatever the heck we want, because we can! God Bless America.

Now, staying on the theme of American pride, I will say that one of the most wonderful places you can find yourself in in this great country is the volcano-candle scented loveliness of Anthropologie. It's true. It is pretty. It is there to make us happy. I wish they would let me just move in there and sleep on one of their patchwork quilts. However, even a single dish towel purchased there will cost you $18. CRAZY. And while the fact that as a frugal girl I will never own the Blythe chair in Ruby Ikat is a hard pill to swallow, I assure you, that while it is difficult at times there is a kind of freedom that comes in knowing that you don't have buy cardigans that cost over $100 to be pretty.

Case in point: The Pom Flower Shift dress by Anthropologie. Price: $128

I love the big, bold flower print. It is just perfect. However, I did not even spend $128 on my wedding dress (yes, I'm serious), so no matter how pretty your shift dresses may be Anthro, I will not surrender!

Instead I found some big, bold flower prints of my own on a dress from ROSS for $8.99. It's true, I could have bought 14 of these dresses at ROSS for the price of one from Anthro.

 Dress: ROSS 8.99, Leggings: ROSS 4.99, Shoes: ROSS 7.99, Belt: Thrifted .99

I will now end my rant with an open letter to Anthropologie. It will be short.

Dear Anthropologie,

You are so pretty, and I love you. However, could you please remember that tablecloths for $78 are freaking crazy? This goes for headbands, t-shirts, and pillowcases too. Please keep this in mind for your fall collection.

Yours truly,

W.
