Down. With. Monday.

It's Monday, folks. And I mean it's REALLY Monday.

I just worked for like an hour on a sassy little post with outfits and collages and witty commentary and life altering fashion genius {ok, no, nothing life altering or genius really, but I thought it was pretty good}, and just as I was going to post there was some sort of computer freezing problem, Windows told me it was closing everything, and my post got sucked into internet oblivion.

I said bad words. Loudly.

As a result, I now give you a second-rate, hodgepodge post, consisting of the following:

1. My favorite Oscar dresses:

Feathers! Sparkles! Those arms! Amazing.

I would kill for that pony tail. Serious.

As a person, she's not my fav but this dress is fab.

If I were to go to the Oscars I would want to wear red.
And be Sandra Bullock.

My favorite. {What were yours?}

2. What I'm wearing today {which I really don't want to post after the Oscar dresses since it is neither red, nor sparkly, nor does it have a train. Oh well.}:

Dress: Old Navy $6.99, Cardigan: Target $9.99, Belt F21 $2.99, Tights: Khols $5.00, Boots: GoJane $11.99

3. And the winner of our houndstooth giveaway:

So, yes, that is my post today. Not my best work, but like I said, Monday, post-eating computer, etc.

Don't worry, I have big plans to show this Monday who's boss and come out triumphant maybe on Wednesday or something. After all, with a little Diet Coke, and a little Bachelor watching tonight, anything is possible.

Happy show-Monday-who's-boss day!

A poll of sorts.

After such an AMAZING response with the heels thing, I wanted to utilize this network of stylish blogger friends, and get some input on something. Well a few things actually. Things that I am in limbo about. Stylistically speaking.

Please share your thoughts on the following:
  1. The maxi dress
  2. Shorts over tights
  3. Flare pants (and I mean FLARE pants)
  4. Lace-up boots
  5. Fur vests
  6. Large, fake glasses
Some of these things I already have opinions about, others I am still deciding, but I would love to hear arguments for and against so I can make educated decisions about them. Ready....

GO!

And then look at days 24-26. Or don't. Just whatever you wanna do.

You guys ROCK. And don't forget the giveaway, which wraps up soon.

Five Things Friday.

1. Home. Made. Samoas. What more is there to say?

2. Miss Karla:

It's gotta be rough to be that fabulous all the time. Life is hard.

3. This lovely video by The Band Perry:

Love her, that dress, that hair, and think it is the sweetest song, but can we all agree that we can do without the boy's old-lady-bouffant-mullet hair? Good. You can't win them all, I guess.

4. New spring collection TOMS! I want them all right now to throw on with shorts and run through the grass. Except I forget what grass looks like since it is BURIED IN THREE FEET OF SNOW. So I'm a little bitter, sue me.

5. Oscar weekend!! Hello pretty people with pretty hair in pretty dresses! I love it. I can't wait. This is my FAAAAVORITE from last year:

Just plain gorg.

What are your 5 things?

Confession.

One of the times when writing a blog anonymously comes in real handy is when you need to make a confession. This is one of those times. Please close your browser now if you have any interest in maintaining any semblance of respect for me.

So, last week I was watching TV and nothing was on. I flipped through the channels and inocently stopped on QVC because there was this girl on there with a really cute hair cut. Then I saw they were talking about eyeliner, so I put down the remote. Then as the segment was ending they said they were going to be talking about mascara next, so I kept watching. Then the mascara segment ended and an eyeshadow segment began. Then a foundation segment. Then a lipstick segment. Before I knew it, nearly 2 hours had gone by as I watched.

That's pretty bad, huh? Well that is going to seem like small grapes compared to the case of watermelons I'm about to drop on you.

Now, as I was saying, I kept watching and in the last segment was a kit, with ALL THE THINGS FROM THE OTHER SEGMENTS! In that moment it was like my hand became separate from my body as it lifted up the phone to dial. Before I knew it I was on the phone with Rita from QVC ordering a box of makeup that cost more than what I spend on electricity for my house.

Yes. That's right. I watched QVC for a long time. Then I called and ordered something from them. Like some 68 year old cat lady in a teal polyester pant suit with a sequined snowman pin on the lapel.

I have photographic evidence:

It is shameful. I know. However, I should tell you that stuff I bought really is pretty great. Not 2 hours of my life watching QVC then an empty bank account later great, but it is what it is.

The one redeeming thing I can say about all this is that in a normal, real-life shopping situation I am pretty much the deal whisperer, so my eye for cheap clothes is helping to mend both my reputation and my bank account after my QVC encounter.

Case in point: My new plaid shirt dress I got for $7.49 at Old Navy:

Cute right? And CHEAP.
Take that QVC! You little conartist with your cute haircuts and long wear eyeliner. You don't scare me!

Phew. Thanks for listening. I feel much better

those dang heels.

I love heels. And by that I mean, I love looking at heels, taking my picture in heels, and wearing heels when I know I will be sitting down (i.e. at church).

Let's talk this over.

There are few things in this world that are girlier or classier than some pretty pretty heels, and I wish I could wear them all day every day. But as a student who walks more than a few blocks to her destination each day and a resident of a snowy/icy tundra, it is just not reasonable to wear heels on a regular day. But I see girls who do it. Every day. And I am totally jealous.

So is there something I am missing here?

Is there a trick to making heels the shoe for a regular day? Do feet adjust? Is it because I buy inexpensive shoes which may or may not be less comfortable than more expensive shoes? Is it because I walk incorrectly in heels? All of your input and heel-wearing tips would be great so I can someday become a regular heel-wearin' girl.

Now, although I don't think its reasonable to wear heels, I still do it sometimes. I want to cut my feet off at the end of the day, but I still do it, as you can see in day 22.

And while you're at it, check out day 23, too. Even though there are no heels there.

Again, please share your tips for the amateur heel-wearer (a.k.a. ME).

Oh ya, and enter our giveaway. It's amazing.

To celebrate the President's S and I had a little mani day yesterday. But not just any kind of mani day, freaking cute houndstooth nails mani day!

If you are a regular reader of this blog, you know I have a nail polish obsession. So ever since I started seeing these sassy Salon Effects things at Walmart I have been salivating. And yesterday S and I tried them out.

We love them! After we finished S took a picture of her hands and sent it to her husband who texted back,"Those are so cute I think I'm going to vomit." Awesome.

I guess I'm a princess...

On Sunday nights I get way depressed. Like way. I get so out of my mind that I become fussy like a 3 year old, sometimes even throwing full-blown tantrums. It's a mystery to me as to why exactly this happens because I really like school, work isn't completely horrible, and I'm not so busy that I could die. And yet, week after week, I behave this way.

My husband, however, has learned to deal with this event, which has actually become anticipated at our house, by getting me a cup of ice cream with milk poured over it (its my latest version of ice cream that I am obsessed with, preferably with ice cream of the chocolate variety), laying me on the couch, putting a pillow under my head, covering me with not one but two blankets, turning on Cupcake Wars or Cake Boss, and rubbing my feet and hands with warm lotion.

Can you believe this?

Don't ask me what I did to deserve such treatment, but let's just say it's not really discouraging my negative behavior. It's actually kinda reinforcing it. I was afraid that if I told him that, he would stop. But last night when there were zero I-hate-Monday outbursts (we have the day off), he still treated me like royalty.

Hello!?! Yes, I'm lucky. Permission granted to roll your eyes.

Now, as a result, I was thinking I could probably bag the poor pathetic S thing, and just start looking forward to the Sunday night princess treatment. Cool.

In other news, 30 for 30 is really starting to take its toll. Like, give me a break, I don't really like wearing the same stuff so frequently. Maybe I will shift my pouting episodes from Sunday nights to mornings when I gotta figure out remixing my outfits and see what kind of therapy my husband comes up with then. Yes, I think I'm on to something here...

Anyway, here are days 18-21:

Also, big huge congrats to Emily Rose on winning the darling thrifted red bag giveaway!  Email us with your address when you get a chance, and we will send that to you ASAP.
Have a great week!

Five Things Friday.

1. The Lauren Conrad spring collection at Kohl's.

I was there yesterday and when I saw it I stopped dead in my tracks and said outloud "How pretty!" while stroking the trenchcoat. And I was alone. Trust me guys, it is real cute.

2. Adele's new album comes out Tuesday! She is amazing. I have already pre-ordered. Have yourself a listen:

3.My new sassy magenta thrifted shoes. I love them. I wear them even though there is a foot of snow on the ground. Cuteness knows no season.

4. Me, S, and our husbands are going to see Brian Reagan tonight! Do you know him? He is HILARIOUS. And clean! And I love him. Make sure you watch this in a place where you can laugh out loud:

5. Three. Day. Weekend!!! I love you, Presidents.

What are your five things?
And have you entered our little giveaway yet? Today is the last day!

Have a lovely weekend!

The Silent Treatment.

My husband and I had one of those day's yesterday. I thought he was cranky... He thought I was cranky. Neither of us were. But we didn't talk to each other to avoid the crank from the other.

Then we had to drive to my parent's house, an hour from where we live, and sit in the car with the other one, who we thought was in a bad mood.

Miserable.

Finally, I decided to communicate, which I guess is important in marriage. I said, "Husband, what's wrong?" He said, "Nothing. What's wrong with you?" I said, "Nothing. I just thought you were in a bad mood so I wasn't talking." He said, "I thought you were in a bad mood so I wasn't talking."

Can you believe? That little misunderstanding went on almost all day.

So we apologized to each other. And then, do you know what my husband said to me? "Let's take you shopping and get you some pretty things."

Is that not the greatest thing he could ever say to make up for the fight (kind of) we just had? He rocks.

Too bad I had to reject his offer because of 30 for 30. This challenge is getting so difficult! But I will press on.

Good Day Sunshine.

I really think that I might be magic.

Seriously. Remember this post? And all my ranting about dressing for spring? Well it just so happens that it has been a glorious couple of good-weather-days in Utah! We're talkin from -2 to around 50 degrees since the weekend, and for Utahns that is practically bathing suit weather. I literally caught myself singing "Good Day Sunshine" as I walked to work. Literally. It was like a musical. A good one with Beatles music. Perhaps set in Hawaii. And everyone dances on the beach. And Carey Grant is there. Or Gene Kelly. But I digress...

Now, I'm trying to maintain my humility with my new gift as I can tell my powers are still in their infancy since tonight a huge blizzard is supposed to be rolling in around here. However, for right now, the sun is shining and it is nice and warm and I’m pretty positive that that has everything to do with all the yellow I’ve got on.

And it's not just any yellow, because when you are trying to direct the weather with your clothing choices you've gotta pull out the big guns. I mean I do love a good mustard cardigan as much as the next girl, but I am talkin bright, sunny, nearly-blinding-to-the-girl-behind-you-in-class-who-would-usually-tell-you-to-take-that-cardigan-off-because-it-is-burning-her-eyes-but-she-won't-because-she-too-is-so-happy-about-your-powers-associated-with-wearing-clothes-that-bring-spring-like-weather, yellow.

Need some inspiration? Then say hello yellow! Yep, I just typed that. Sue me.

Validate me. Please.

I don't know why I always talk about TV. I promise, I do way more than sit around watching American Idol, What Not to Wear, and the Bachelor (which I am going to talk about here) all day. I promise.

But...

I really consider the Bachelor one of the best shows on television. Aside from most of the girls being really annoying, it has the recipe for success in my book, and I think about the show all the time. Listen...

(Insert reasons I like the show here.)

Hmmm.

Okay, so now I am saying to myself "Wait... why do I like this show again?" And to you I answer, I don't know. I just do. I really really do.

If you like it too, please share why so I can get some validation here.
Thanks.

Okay let's get on track. Here are the last few days of 30 for 30 clothing. I will fore-go the prices of each item (there are a lot), but you should know that nothing pictured here cost more than $15.99.Untitled-1.jpg

Thoughts?

Go away!

Okay, so, as you all know, and as W so eloquently put it in yesterday's post, we are all about forcing spring to come to us by dressing like everyday is April 21st.

I promise someday we will stop complaining about winter, but in the meantime...

Does this first outfit not remind you of some delicious pink lemonade? Mmmmmm... my mouth is watering. Over the outfit and the idea of pink lemonade. By the pool. In 80 degree weather.

But the truth is, I had to stand in the snow, in my pink lemonade outfit, with frozen toes because the snow got in the crevasses of my shoes.

Dear winter, please leave. I've had enough. Seriously.

{shirt: 3.99, Old Navy; skirt: 10.00, ROSS, tights: 2.99, TJ Maxx; shoes: 18.99, Target}
IMG_0331copy.jpg
{shirt: 7.99, ROSS; pants: 4.50, Kohl's; shoes: free, Christmas present; belt: free, came with a dress}

That's really all I have to say.

Any fun plans for Valentine's day? I would LOVE to hear.

I need a little Spring in my step...

It’s another freaking cold one in Utah today! And by freaking I mean, NPR told me it was a whole 3 degrees outside when I woke up. THREE! A number so small if you multiplied it by 10 it would only be 30 which is still really cold. These are trying times to be a Utahn, people.

However, I am using a little strategy to bring some heat to this bitter winter. You know how there is that saying about dressing for the job you want? Like, if you want to be some big exec you should wear a suit, if you want to work at Urban Outfitters you should dress like you are homeless? {I kid. I actually really like, like, 70% of the stuff there. But do you feel me? Some of the things they sell look like they were made in 1989, worn by some hooligan, got walked on a lot, then thrown in a landfill, and then hung on their rack for $60. But, I digress...}

Like I was saying, I’m gonna start living that mantra, but instead of dressing for the job I want I’m gonna start dressing for the weather I want. So far I’m pretty sure its working because I have on some seriously springy colors today and once I got to work the temperature shot up to a whopping 12 degrees outside! It’s practically Miami up in here!

Want to join me in my attempt to bring in some Spring?! {Yes, that rhyme was on purpose.} Here are some pretty springy things to help, all under $25:

And here is the springy outfit that is busting
thermostats all across the Wasatch Front:

Blouse: F21 $12.99, Cardigan: Old Navy $5.99, Jeans: F21 $7.99, Shoes: Old Navy $5.99

Come on Spring! Don't tease me!
I want you! I need you! Oh baby, Oh baby.

{name that reference and will be bff's forever}
